Shirley Sirota Rosenberg has been a writer and editor all her professional life. She was managinge editor of two local weeklies. Then while she was raising her children, she was a freelance writer, becoming Washington correspondent for Parents' Magazine. It was in this latter job that she learned how great it is to be edited well.
Shirley founded SSR Incorporated in 1972. She and her staff (some have been with her since the business was launched) produce print materials, many of which have garnered top professional awards. All SSR business comes through word of mouth.
Having taught the capstone course, The Consummate Editor, in the GWU graduate-level Publications Specialist Program for 20 years, Shirley has sent more than 500 disciples into the field to do editing and writing proud. Some have become her clients; others have come to work for her. Shirley is also a popular lecturer around town and has served on the boards of directors of numerous professional editorial associations, as well as on the board of directors of the continuing education program at GWU.
