Our job

Bring a "final reader" to a book ready to go to press which the writers thought was 99.9% perfect. Someone very wise suspected a problem when he called us in. We found numerous glitches. At this late stage, the challenge was to make the material as editorially consistent and as unambiguous as possible without affecting the final layout of the book.

A note to the unbelieving: A Meeting With the Universe was at that time the only book ever published by NASA with no editorial errors.
